The FT-790R transceiver, first introduced in 1982, was upgraded with the FT-790R II (Mark II) version, similar in specifications but with different front panel. The 25 Watts power output, an option in Mark II when used with the FL-7025 clip-on amplifier, is unavailable for the FT-790R.
