The Yaesu FT-4X is compact and light, yet ruggedly constructed, VHF/UHF dual band FM handheld transceiver. The radio (Yaesu FT-4XR in USA/Asia and Yaesu FT-4XE in Europe) has three output power levels from 0.5 to 5 watts, receive coverage is 65-108 for FM broadcast band and 136-174 / 400-480 MHz. The speaker provides a full 1 Watt of powerful, clear audio. Other features include: Versatile scanning capabilities with programmable VFO scan (scans all channels in the band or ±1 / ±2 / ±5 MHz), memory scan allows scanning of user selectable frequencies, priority channel scan can be used to scan memory channels while making one channel a priority. Weather Alert scan alerts the user when severe weather is approaching (WX channels, USA). PC Programming with optional cable. Transceiver-to-transceiver cloning with optional cable. Direct keypad entry. Automatic range transponder system (ARTS). CTCSS/DCS operation. Busy channel lockout (BLCO). Transmitter time-out timer (TOT). Automatic power off feature.
The FT-4X has two programmable keys for one-touch recall of a prefered setting o mode settings. The supplied SBR28LI Li-ion battery pack is capable of up to 15 hours operation. The SBH-22 rapid charger (3.5-hour) is also included. VOX operation is available with the optional SSM-512B earpiece microphone.
