The IC-3230 dual band FM mobile Transceiver boasts 25 Watt output on VHF and UHF amateur-radio frequencies. Features: Dual Display, RF Attenuator, 30 Memory Channel, 2 Call Channels, 3 Scan Functions, Separate V/UHF Volume and Squelch controls, DTMF Up-Down hand Microphone, Illuminated Switches, Lock function. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1992.

IC-3230 series :

The ICOM IC-3230(H) mobile transceiver is a similar rig but offering higher output power, on VHF 144 MHz output is 45 Watt max and on UHF 440 MHz output is 35 Watt max.

IC-3230 A/E optional unit installation :

There are 3 types of optional internal units available. UT-55: DTMF encoder/decoder unit. Allows you to operate the pager and code squelch function. Necessary for an optional Mic DTMF remote and/or an external DTMF remote. UT-66: Voice synthesizer unit. Announces the operating band frequency in english or japanese. UT-67: Tone squelch unit. Allows you to operate a repeater that requires a subaudible tone for access, the pocket beep function or the tone squelch function.

For installation, proceed as follow. Unscrew the 6 screws then remove the top cover as show in the figure 1. Install the optional unit as show in the figure 2. For the USA version, replace the UT-67 with the built-in TONE UNIT. Replace the top cover and screws.
