The CCRadio 3 has many of the refinements and improvements requested by customers who have used previous versions of C.Crane radios. This receiver is built for the highest performance ever on AM (520~1710 KHz). The CCRadio-3 has a remarkable AM calibration feature. You can re-tune the radio for the best possible reception on each AM station. A perfect solution to compensate for the normal aging of components. This automatic alignment procedure start at 1700 KHz and move to 520 KHz with 100 KHz steps. Traditional FM reception is also amazing in its ability to bring in a weak station clearly. The CCRadio 3 has built-in a Bluetooth receiver. Once paired, you can send Bluetooth audio from a device, such as your smartphone or tablet over to the radio. Five memory buttons on top of the radio make it easier to change stations than front mounted buttons. For many radio listeners, the addition of the 144 MHz amateur band will be their first experience with ham radio. Other features: Great AM reception with the 12 x 203mm Twin-Coil ferrite antenna. External AM antenna terminal jack. 57cm telescopic whip antenna for FM, 144 MHz, and Weather band. On 144 MHz band you can set the squelch above the background noise level, the radio will remain silent until a voice transmission is detected. Rotary Bass and Treble controls. Audio line-input and line-output jacks. Clock, alarm, sleep timer (120, 90, 60, 45, 30 and 15 minutes). Display features a full backlight with three levels of brightness, including an off feature. A low impedance transistor driven switch, used for operation of external recording devices.
CCRadio-3 performance and practical notes :
Bluetooth feature normally introduces noise on AM and/or on FM band due to the digital circuits. The CCRadio 3 is one of the few radios with Bluetooth that has no detectable noise and some of the best reception available. A set of 4 alkaline batteries would provide ~250 hours of runtime with the radio played at a moderate volume level. CCRadio 3 is otherwise the same as the CCRadio-2E but with two small improvement: Bluetooth feature, and you can now toggle between AM/FM band rather than scroll through all the bands.
