Description :

The SR-2000A is a panoramic receiver that combines a wide tunable range with the spectrum analyzer mode. Specifically, this AOR allows you to observe a band of 40 MHz with an 6 times per second update, so the display highlights all the signs of short duration that would instead be ignored in a traditional search by means of a channel-by-channel scan. The analysis carried out by means of a digital FFT processing takes place in real time in two distinct modes, in addition to the traditional shape that brings intensity on the display depending on the frequency you can choose the waterfall that displays the intensity of the signal received in color depending on time. Amplitude values can be measured by average or as peak.

The receiving structure is a VHF / UHF scanner with triple conversion for AM and FM narrow and wide modes. There is also the possibility to demodulate and bring on TV the analogue TV emissions in PAL / NTSC standard. The dynamics are good for the benefit of both listening, only marginally influenced by intermodulations, and spectrum measures. Other features: RF attenuator, squelch, various search options, 1000 general memories, priority channel. RS-232C and USB connection to computer.

Performance and practical notes :

This model has a hybrid character, to fully appreciate its features the user must be clear that the typical use is similar but not the same as that of a conventional scanner. The analysis of the fast spectrum on intervals of some MHz is indeed a really effective function for some conditions, on this aspect the SR2000A behaves very well being able to manage quickly the measures. However, there are some shortcomings, the main one concerns the values of selectivity not declared explicitly. Particular is then the front-pannel control configuration that requires to adjust the audio volume, squelch, tuning, to act on the same rotary command after selection with a button of the desired parameter. This is not really a handicap, being the overall ease of use. Footnote, the reception of video signals concerns only the old analog TV terrestrial standards, today of little relevance.
