Description :

DJ-X7 is a compact scanner, with just 15 mm of profile, aimed to only the AM and FM modes. Operating up to 19 hours guaranteed by the Li-Io (Lithium) batteries supplied. The power supply, also supplied, can recharge the batteries of the device while it is simultaneously active in reception. This mode, not generally supported by other scanner models, allows uninterrupted listening. There are 1000 memory locations distributed in 10 banks, with the software downloadable from the Alinco web site it is still possible to change the distribution by freely arranging up to 50 separate banks to adapt the receiver's operation to the number and types of frequencies that can be inserted into the memory. Different scanning options: between band limits, within memories according to preferences, from VFO, based on CTCSS subaudio tones.

Other features: RF attenuator, bug-detector function, predefined bands for simplified use. Beyond the flexible stylus antenna a ferrite-rod antenna is incorporated to improve the reception of Medium Waves band. The power-save mode can be activated to protect the batteries in order to reduce the operating time. The receiver allows the cloning of the memory contents from a PC and also between two DJ-X7, the software is free while the optional interface cables are required as accessories.

Performance and practical notes :

Among the pocket size handheld receivers this Alinco model behaves in a valuable way from the operational point of view. The use of the few keys after a first phase of learning is anything but complex and the usual frequency settings, search and recall of a memory are completed quickly. Aspects of practical nature is the minimal profile of the device that stands out, undeniably bring with it the DJ-X7 results in an uncommon comfort considering the parallel operating autonomy given by lithium-ion batteries. The RF sensitivity is on medium level for most of the tunable range, but is inconsistent and not optimal in UHF bands.
