FT-707 / FT-707S description :

The FT-707 transceiver, also imported in Europe by the Swiss firm Sommerkamp and sold as Sommerkamp FT-767DX, was an ideal successor of the Yaesu FT-7B radio for both fixed and mobile operations. With higher power output, now 100 Watts, and a new digital counter was released two years later keep up the frequency coverage limited to a single 500 kHz segment but for all 3.5 ~ 30 MHz amateur bands, WARC included. The FT-707S, with 10 Watts power output, its a QRP version of this Yaesu transceiver. Main specifications are unchanged.

Available options include the FP-707 AC power supply, which provides the 13.5 Volts required. Also available is the FV-707DM external VFO, which provides twelve memories using a synthesizer which allows scanning in 10 Hz steps and offset from memory channels. More, the FC-707 antenna coupler for impendance matching to the 50Ω. All of the above accessories, plus a special mounting rack, are a must for vintage enthusiasts.

FT-707 / FT-707S power amplifier :

The input signal is amplified by predriver Q01 (2SC1589) and the push-pull driver stage, Q02/Q03 (2SC2395), and amplified further by the push-pull final amplifier, Q04/Q05 (2SC2290), which provides approximately 100 Watt of RF output. The RF signal is fed through bandswitch low-pass filter networks on the LPF Unit, then delivered, through a directional coupler, to the rear panel antenna jack.

A thermistor on the final amplifier board provides detection of excess temperature. When the operating temperature of the final transistors rises to an unacceptable figure, control voltage developed at comparator Q01 (AN6552) is fed to Q02 (2SC1815Y), which drives Q03 (2SD592), providing operating voltage for a cooling fan on the amplifier heat sink.

Control voltage is also fed to amplifier Q04 (2SC1815Y), and this voltage is delivered to the ALC line to the RF, IF, and AF stages.
