The first Kenwood HF Transceiver with Next Generation Digital Signal Processing at the IF stage on transmit and receive. 100 Watts output in SSB, CW, FSK, FM and 25 Watts in AM. Includes extensive user-adjustable filtering functions for combating all forms of received interference with Auto Notch, Beat Cancel, Noise Reducer with Line Enhancer Method (LEM) and Speech Processing/Auto Correlation (SPAC) functions, IF Slope Tune for SSB / AM, Variable Bandwidth Tuning (VBT) for CW / FSK / FM, Noise Blanker. Transmit Equalizer, Transmit AGC, Speech Processor with adjustable three audio frequency bands, built-in Electronic Keyer. Multiple Scanning Modes, 100 Main Memory Channels, 4 user-programmable keys, RS-232C Computer Control Interface, Dual Antenna connectors. Provides an antenna tuner (standard on TS870SAT) that can easily be inserted into or removed from the transmit and receive paths. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1995.

I bought a Kenwood TS-870S in June, 2002, and it was my primary radio for over 10 years. I never had any problems with my old Kenwood, and it worked great. I really like my Kenwood TS-870S, and still have it, and it stills works as good as new. Occasionally, I still work ham stations using the Kenwood TS-870S, and they sound great.
