The IC-737 is an all-mode HF transceiver with 100 Watt RF output. Features: Built-in automatic antenna tuner, 0.5 MHz to 30 MHz general coverage receiver, PBT and Notch filter, RIT and XIT, full and semi break-in for CW operations, direct keypad entry, 101 memories, 10 memo pad, double band stacking register (like 2 VFO's in each band). The Icom IC-737A is very similar to the IC-737, but adds VOX function. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1993.

IC-737 /A side tone preset :

CW side tone output can be controlled by RF-GAIN. If you want to change the basic CW side tone level, perform the procedure described below.

Remove the top and bottom covers. Adjust R238 as shown in the diagram. Replace the top and bottom covers.

IC-737 /A RIT and XIT adjustment :

When the RIT/XIT (Receive/Transmit Incremental Tuning) control center position is shifted (>±0 Hz) it can be adjusted with an internal variable resistor.

ICOM IC-737 RIT and XIT adjustment

Remove the top and bottom covers. Set the RIT/XIT control to the center. Push [RIT] to turn the RIT function On. Adjust R19 on the logic unit, as shown in the figure, to set the displayed RIT frequency to "0.00". Replace the top and bottom covers.

This is a great radio !!
Very easy to use, sounds great, and I love the classic look!
Found mine in mint / new condition and I was happy to pay 400 USD for it in 2023.
If you don't like all that digital stuff like me, then this is the one for you. I can easily keep up with the IC-7300 guys and over power them with this rig.

Its an ok rig in general. I would say it makes a good backup rig - especially at the price I got it for ($300) but I wouldn't want it as my main rig. This is (ICOM IC-737) the first radio I've ever owned that didn't have an RF gain control which kind of bugged me when I first noticed it but I guess I can get by with the attenuator (two level) and the preamp on/off buttons. If you get one of these make sure it has the TCXO installed otherwise it takes about 20 minutes or so to quit drifting. Also I found the noise blanker to be quite ineffective - not happy with that at all. I do like the fact that there is a button for each mode and band so they don't make you go through a step up/down menu to change modes or bands. It has up/down MHz buttons so that is kind of nice. It has a cool little feature it has where there is a small bunch of memory locations where you can save favorite frequencies. By pressing another button you can scroll through all your saved favorites.

It has a nice meter instead of just a "segment-ometer" like the newer rigs. I do like it for shortwave listening but I wish the AM mode had a wide setting to get better sound when listining to broadcasts. In all I would say that if you're a new ham looking for a first rig and you run across one of these, you should definitely consider getting it.
