FLEX-6700R description :

The FLEX6700R receiver (see the FLEX-6700 as transceiver) is a direct sampling SDR, ie the RF signals are transformed into a stream of digital data and processed as a whole. All the processing functions on the radio channel are performed in the numerical domain. Variable filters with continuity and very high slope ensure precise and distortion-free selectivity. At the heart of these features is SmartSDR that organizes processing power by virtualizing the RF subsystems into blocks that can be used individually in the software. SCUs (Spectral Capture Unit) is dedicated to signals acquisition, the data flow generated by them is sent to a FPGA device (Field Programmable Gate Array) at a rate of 7.8 Gbps (billions of bits/second) for the first processing by extracting the information that, through SmartSDR, will go to make one or more receivers in real time, each with its own panoramic viewer and independent audio output. These receivers, called SR (Slice Receivers), represent portions of the sampled spectrum in the SCU and can be tuned as desired by the user.

In the FLEX 6700R the SCUs contain two Analog Devices AD9467 ADC converters operating at 16 Bit / 245 Msps capable of digitizing the entire HF spectrum in real time. The SCUs are designed to operate simultaneously, each with its own antenna to create a diversity system or be combined with each other to optimize reception. It is also possible to combine the two ADCs to achieve a 3 dB improvement in RF dynamic-range.

It is possible to implement up to 8 separate receivers in the HF frequency ranges (0.03~77 MHz) and VHF (135~165 MHz), each receiver allows an independent representation of the spectrum up to a 384 kHz wide range and each can demodulate a signal. The receivers can be tuned as desired in any frequency portion, in the same band or in different bands. The SDR is also equipped with a 1 Gb Ethernet port suitable for any type of PC and also for network devices. At first only the LAN functionality will be supported but in a second time the version of SmartSDR with WAN functionality will be available. The use of the FLEX-6700R remotely thus becomes independent of the PC, simply connect it to the Internet via the Ethernet port in order to operate it from anywhere.
