WR-G315 description :

The Winradio WR-G315 is an SDR receiver for HF, VHF and UHF. The basic version covers up to 1800 MHz extensible to 3500 or 8599 MHz via an optional module, with this addition the WiNRADiO is one of the few models that comes to tune up to the SHF band. The primary characteristic is the good sensitivity that is kept practically stable with respect to the frequency along many orders of magnitude. The S-meter tool (RSSI) also offers a high accuracy, the error is typically within 2 dB, with the indication made usable as well as in standard S points also in dBm and uV choose whether to measure the peak value, RMS, or still averaged defining the time constant. The receiver has a circuit with mixed architecture. Analogous in the two frequency conversions, the first uses a 20 KHz wide quartz roofing filter composed of two 4-pole cells, subsequently digital integrating a dedicated DSP in the hardware to define the filtering of the signals and their demodulation. The computer by means of the software implements further processing and controls, the squelch, for example, can be set on the RF level; the audio component; the call tone CTCSS or DCS.

The bandwidth on digital IF filters is adjustable in 1 Hz steps over the entire 50 ~ 15000 Hz range, thus covering all the listening needs in the various modulations. Spectrum analysis operates in real time on 20 KHz wide showing the signal components with a resolution of 16 Hz. The 20 KHz segment of the digitized IF can be recorded on the PC to be reproduced at another time by freely setting selectivity, mode, notch filter, noise-blanker (NB). The software also allows to measure an entire set of parameters on the tuned channel such as the depth of modulation in the AM, the frequency deviation in the FM, the distortion and the SINAD, finally the spectrum demodulated audio with a resolution of 5 Hz. In addition to the narrowband spectrum analysis there is also the function of panoramic analysis that incorporates display utilities such as the ability to present the curves of minimum and maximum activity or the automatic survey to find the radio emission peaks.

WR-G315 performance and practical notes :

The radio is available in two versions, the Winradio WR-G315e (editor's note: here described and visible in the image) is a module to be connected via USB to a computer while the Winradio WR-G315i is developed in a PCI bus card. The electrical and operational characteristics do not differ. Requirements for the PC are a 500 MHz Pentium CPU or higher and Windows XP or later operating system. As you can see, the receiver also works in combination with a dated computer or in any case with modest computing resources.
