The Kenwood RZ-1, with dimensions of a car-radio, tunes from 500 kHz to 905 MHz. This wide-band desktop/mobile receiver cover from AM broadcast band to VHF / UHF public service bands in AM, FM and W-FM modes. 100 memories are available with seven character alpha-tagging to label the stations you have stored. The 10 numeric keys let you recall memories or directly enter the desired frequency. Of-course programmable and memory channel scan are supported. Other features: Tuning step size selection from 5 kHz to 25 kHz, stereo line output jacks, two antenna jacks. Ideated in Japan, year of introduction 1988.

1Volume control / Power switch
2Squelch control. The SQL control is used to eliminate noise in the FM-N mode during no signal periods
3Earphone jack
4VFO / M.ch (Memory channel) key. This key is used to switch between the VFO and Memory channel mode
5Scan key. This key is used to start and stop scanning
6Msg key. This key is used to enter or recall a message
7Tuning control. This control is used to select the desired receive frequency, memory channel, scan direction, message character
8Up / Down keys. These keys are used to step increase or decrease the desired receive frequency, memory channel, scan direction, message digit
9Numeric keys. In VFO mode: press the [Enter] key and then enter a frequency. Press these keys to recall a programmable band. In M.ch mode: Press these keys and then the [Enter] key to enter a memory channel. In Message mode: Press the 1~7 keys to enter a symbol
10Step key. In VFO mode this key is used to select the frequency step. In M.ch mode this key is used to specify or release the Memory Channel to be locked out during scan operations
11Mode key
12M key. In VFO mode this key is used to enter a frequency into a Memory channel. In M.ch mode this key is used to transfer a Memory channel frequency into VFO mode
13C key. This key is used to release Scan, Memory Entry, and to clear a frequency or memory selection
14S.Sel key. This key is used to select the desired Scan mode
15Beep key
16Enter key. In VFO mode this key is used to begin the direct keyboard input of the operating frequency. In M.ch mode this key is used to directly input the Memory channel number.

Honest receiver in performance. Installed on board an off-road vehicle, despite the vibrations, it has never given problems in years of use. Moreover, it is not comparable to the Icom IC-R100 which is characterized by superior performance.
