BC75XLT description :

The Uniden BC75XLT is a scanner designed for the North American market, with this in mind its default settings make it possible to simplify the search and tuning of civil and amateur radio stations as well as PMR on the V/UHF MHz segments. two band-plans, one for the USA and one for Canada, which associate the tuning step and the operating mode to defined frequency intervals. In the profile for Canada, for example we have: on 25 ~ 28 MHz (CB and outbander) the 5 KHz step and the AM mode, on 28 ~ 54 MHz (amateur radio) the 5 KHz step and the NFM mode, on 108 ~ 137 (aeronautical) the 8.333 KHz step and the AM mode, on 137 ~ 174 MHz (amateur radio and VHF PMR) the 5 KHz step and the NFM mode, on 406 ~ 512 MHz (amateur radio and UHF PMR) the 6.25 KHz and the NFM mode.

BC75XLT other features :

RF detector function that transforms the scanner into an instrument capable of detecting the frequency of the strongest transmission within the operating bands, 300 memories divided into banks, charger included when using NiMH cells and external power supply, interfacing with a PC for the which a free software is available. The rotary control on the upper side of the BC-75-XLT performs a triple function, allows you to move between the selections, adjust the volume, set the level of squelch intervention.

BC75XLT performance and practical notes :

This scanner has good qualities of sensitivity and ease of use. For EU readers: undeniable advantages that clash with the default settings not in strict agreement with the European reality. After testing the Uniden BC75XLT, however, it turned out that this limit is not substantial, the maximum error of 2.5 KHz tuning in PMR band on VHF seems to have a modest impact on listening - this also due to Intermediate frequency filters not just selective. On the aeronautical band and on the UHF instead the steps are correct. So if you are going to buy this Uniden-Bearcat, consider this aspect. Among the positive factors to report there is the high scanning speed, of 90 or 270 channels per second, which makes it particularly ductile in searching for active frequencies. Among the negative factors, however, the lack of indications on the display regarding the intensity of the received signal.
